Diagnodent: Technology to detect teeth cavity
At Island Dental, we’ve invested in a high-tech method of decay detection called Diagnodent – a laser system that scans for even the tiniest, hidden teeth cavity.
With this simple, comfortable procedure, we can detect cavities with much greater precision and certainty, particularly in the little grooves and chewing surfaces of your back teeth.
Traditionally, methods of detecting these cavities (poking and prodding!) have been shown to be inaccurate. Small cavities would have been undetectable until they caused considerable damage to a tooth.
Why is it important to find teeth cavities earlier?
When we spot decay sooner rather than later, it means we can:
- Assess and monitor: With the revolutionary Diagnodent, the dentist can get an accurate diagnosis of whether decay is present or not and how active the decay process is, without the need for an X-ray, then monitor any suspicious areas objectively.
- Treat teeth cavity sooner: If a cavity is detected, we can treat it easily and conservatively before it becomes a bigger hole in your tooth. The filling will be smaller and shallower, preserving more of the natural tooth structure and saving you the expense of a more complicated tooth restoration.
- Prevent more issues: Because we can catch the tiniest speck of decay just as it’s starting, we can offer preventive dental procedures such as sealants to keep your teeth as healthy as possible.
